Damian Farnes I've said it before, and I'll say it again: there is more magic, artistry and downright talent in the wonderful D.I.Y world of ARMY of MOTHS than pretty much any big production releases I've heard in many a year. Infectious melodies, glorious ear worms and fantastic energy. Every one a gem, and Show Me Your Kung Fu and Fast Track are truly two of the greatest songs my ears have been lucky enough to hear. Absolutely amazing. Favorite track: There's No Fast Track To Happiness.

This place will chew you up and spit you out into a 103 pieces. Just look pretty, aim for the sky, yours is not to question why. This is what you have to do to find success. There's no point in lying when you're trying to be beautiful, but there's something going on that I can't put my finger on. We will work you, bend you, shape you. From your souls, we will take you far away. Darlings, so sorry, can't remember your name. Couple of words in the song we want to change...OK? Oh and the bass player's too old...sack him! Radio friendly (Are we?) Radio friendly (Can we be?) Radio friendly (Please make us) Radio friendly ( We want to be) Radio friendly (Are we?) Radio friendly (Can we be?) Radio friendly (Please make us) Radio friendly (Please help us!) R.A.D.I.O - on the radio Have you got a life? Have you got a lifestyle? Your time will pass, gone with the wind. Your time will pass, just like the wind! Darlings, darlings, we're trying to get to the top here. A little more muscle, a little more flesh please Oh and have you sacked the bass player? Hip Hip Hooray! You're at the top of the hit parade....HURRAH! Hip Hip Hooray, think of all the money that you have made, (Think of all the money that you have made for me!) Darlings, darlings, you've been wonderful.... but it's just not working for us anymore...NEXT! You'll never miss what you never had. There is no fast track to being happy....apart from being happy. The grass is not always greener. There's no fast track to happiness!

about

In the spirit of the DIY nonsense that ARMY of MOTHS perpetually insist upon chucking at their long suffering sympathisers, 'Four by Two' are some songs that whilst absolutely lacking in studio polished perfection....or in fact any sense of professionalism whatsoever, are essentially typical of their approach to things.

Not songs 'rejected' from the new album, but just not on it, and unlikely to ever be heard otherwise.

Never to be confused with 'playing the game' or taking themselves (or anything else) too seriously, they present a bunch of home demos of chaotic sounding pop music that could only be found acceptable in THEIR world....for that is the only world THEY know.

Surely, only fools would release shoddy demos of songs that no one has expressed any interest in, instead of waiting to release their lovely new, polished album that's taken lots of time to record?
You'd be right to think so...and THAT is essentially ARMY of MOTHS.

However, here they are...presented to you as a bunch of their 'home demo things'.

about

ARMY of MOTHS UK

A barrage of noises, all bundled together like a black plastic bag full of broken pop music, thrown in the boot of a Ford Cortina and driven into a river of psychedelia, only to resurface with a head full of punk angst....or something.
